Manzuma
Not As Cryptic As Before
Manzuma is a band based in Brisbane. We've been doing this since before the whole world was paranoid. The music we make is a challenging listen at times, and even more of a challenge to categorise concisely. Someone once said we're like Rammstein meets Blondie, despite none of us really being into either. Some words that might help you as you look through these pages: "progressive", "industrial", "alternative", with what can only be put as a "Middle Eastern influence". We make music that usually has an enormous sound considering there are only 3 of us.
We're 2 albums in - and always have another on the way. But we record slowly because we're very picky about how things sound. Inside the Serpent Skin was released in 2005. Scene Magazine had this to say about us back then:
Manzuma have the potential to be one of those rare acts who can be all things to all people without diluting their unique sound or compromising their artistic integrity. - Craig Wilson (Scene Magazine Brisbane)
The second album, Hollows, released earlier in 2008, took things down a darker winding path with so many left-hand turns it ended up where it started. If you've heard it you'll know exactly what that means.
